The College of Veterinary Medicine at Utah State University (USU) is accepting applications for a residency/MS or PhD program in anatomic pathology starting July 1, 2027. Residency training is based on diagnostic casework from the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (www.usu.edu/uvdl/) and is designed to prepare the individual for the certifying examination of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. The residents receive exposure to agricultural, companion, laboratory, wildlife, and zoo animal pathology. Graduate degree (MS or PhD) training is through the College of Veterinary Medicine at USU or the USDA Poisonous Plant Research Laboratory. The resident will be supported by six ACVP diplomates certified in anatomic pathology. Applicants must possess a DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA or similarly accredited veterinary school, an excellent academic record, good interpersonal skills, and a strong interest in veterinary pathology. Previous experience in clinical medicine or pathology is desirable, but not mandatory. Compensation includes a $50,000 salary, paid tuition, and contributions to student health insurance. Applications should include a statement of professional goals, veterinary college transcripts, curriculum vitae, and three letters of reference with ideally at least one from a board-certified (ACVP, ECVP, JCVP, or equivalent) pathologist. International students from non-English speaking countries must also submit TOEFL or IELTS scores. Application material and questions regarding the residency program should be directed to Arnaud Van Wettere, Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, 950 East 1400 North, Logan, UT 84341; arnaud.vanwettere@usu.edu. To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by December 1, 2026.
